Botox and Dysport relax the muscles that cause expression lines, such as frown lines and crow’s feet. Dermal fillers replace volume that has been lost, in the cheeks, lips or under-eyes for example. Many patients have both, because they treat different causes of the same lines.

A hyaluronic acid filler adds volume at once and can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid: it stimulates your own collagen, so the result builds gradually over weeks and months, usually over a series of treatments.

Botox and Dysport usually last about 3 to 4 months. Most hyaluronic acid fillers last 6 to 18 months, depending on the product and the area. After a full course, Sculptra results can last up to two years or longer.
